YouTube

Olivia Ma is YouTube’s News Manager. She develops news-related products and programming initiatives and works closely with both news organizations and citizen reporters using the site to share news video from around the world. She also manages YouTube’s news editorial strategy through CitizenTube, YouTube’s breaking news channel, and oversees the site’s coverage of major global news events such as the 2011 protests in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya, the 2009 Iranian elections and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Prior to joining YouTube, Olivia was a product manager for Plum, a social media-sharing website, and ran Current, a national student news magazine published in partnership with Newsweek. Olivia graduated from Harvard University with a degree in History and Literature. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Center for Public Integrity. See her Talk


Robert TercekRobert Tercek

Robert Tercek is one of the world’s most prolific creators of interactive content. He has created breakthrough entertainment experiences on every digital platform, including satellite television, game consoles, broadband Internet, interactive television and mobile networks. His expertise spans television, telecommunications and software. To design interactive multimedia products, Mr Tercek draws upon a broad range of experience as a television director, game designer, artist, and educator. Tercek has served in executive leadership roles at major media companies, most recently as President of Digital Media at OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, and previously as Senior Vice President of Digital Media at Sony Pictures Entertainment and earlier as Creative Director at MTV: Music Television. He also co-founded five startup ventures, including 7th Level, Inc., which went public in 1993. In 2008, Robert Tercek was named a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts in recognition of his effort to advance social progress through media. See his Talk.


Jennifer Siebel NewsomJennifer Siebel Newsom
Filmmaker

Jennifer Siebel Newsom is an actress, filmmaker, spokesperson, and mother. She received her BA and MBA with honors from Stanford University. Jennifer worked in Africa, Latin America, and Europe on assignments with Conservation International, where she focused on providing micro-enterprise opportunities to women. She later moved to Los Angeles where she performed in films and TV shows (including In the Valley of Elah and NBC’s Life) and formed Girls’ Club Entertainment, LLC, an umbrella entertainment company that develops and produces films and television shows that empower women. She recently finished writing, directing, and producing the documentary film Miss Representation, which premiered in the documentary film competition at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011. Jennifer lives in San Francisco with husband, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, and their daughter Montana. They had a baby boy in 2011. See her Talk.


John Perry BarlowJohn Perry Barlow

John Perry Barlow is a retired Wyoming rancher (and native), a former lyricist for the Grateful Dead, and the co-founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties organization which has been protecting the free flow of information on the Internet since 1990. He remains on the board of that organization. He has been writing about society in Cyberspace since 1988 and was first to apply that name to the global social space it presently describes. He was a founding Fellow at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society and is presently engaged in starting a company, Algae Systems, that aspires to turn sewage into carbon negative jet fuel. He is the father of three daughters and his primary aspiration is to be a good ancestor. See his Talk.
